Pityriasis Rosea from Zaggora Hot Top

I’m posting this in hopes to find other women customers who experienced Pityriasis Rosea or any other rashes from a Hot Top (or any product) made by Zaggora. I have posted about them before. In fact, they were one of my favorite things from 2012 and I still love the products. I am just baffled by this rash and want to know if anyone else had this happen to them.

Zaggora came out with new colors of their Hot Top and I purchased a grey one as a Groupon Goods item.

After wearing it to work out I broke out in a weird rash that was later diagnosed as Pityriasis Rosea, a harmless rash that has a distinctive pattern. I took the medication and after it went away I wore the other tops from the same company (but from their original batch of products) and was fine.

I then wore the same top again, freshly washed, and broke out in the same rash again.

I could only conclude that the Hot Top was the cause of my rash. It is a bit strange, though, because Pityriasis Rosea is generally thought to have no known cause, but some physicians believe there are triggers.

I contacted both Zaggora and Groupon, who refuse to offer a refund, exchange, or replacement in any form. I even offered to send it back to the manufacturer for analysis, but they had no interest.

In a month long email conversation with Zaggora they originally offered an exchange if I obtained a doctor’s note saying he believed it caused my rash. I obtained the note, they they said they could not locate my order. I advised again, as I stated in all emails, that I got it via Groupon Goods. They reneged on their exchange offer and  ultimately argued that it is neoprene based and that some people’s skin reacts to it.

Even though I have mentioned it in nearly every email they fail to comprehend  that I have 6 other of their neoprene items and have had no breakout whatsoever. I also scuba dive and have worn a variety of rental wetsuits while traveling, also with no breakouts.

Groupon is unable to offer a refund because it is well over their 14 day return policy by now.

Has anyone, anywhere broken out in a rash after wearing a Zaggora Hot Top? If so, please comment and let me know what color and where you ordered it from.

  1. SHOOT YES! from the Hotpants and YES! I told Zaggora about it. They never responded to my emails. These things are worthless if you have sensitive skin.

    • I’m sorry that happened to you, but I’m relieved to know I’m not alone. I was beginning to think I was crazy. I love what their older products did for me, but I’ve been too scared to try the newer ones for fear they’ll make me break out like the new line of hot tops did.

And I scuba dive so I know I’m not allergic to neoprene- it’s got to be some chemical they used.

  2. Yes Yes Yes!! OMG!! Finally you helped me figure out whats going on.
I definitely have the same condition fromusing the Atomica 2.0 Top. Had no problems with the pants..but when I bought & finally received then used the top, that’s when the problem started. THANK YOU!!! But I LOVE my outfit SOOO much.

    • Thank you for commenting. I’m glad you at least know that what happened to you has a name.

If you bought them from Zaggora directly and get a doctor’s note saying the top caused the issue (mine wrote one up without an issue) they should refund your money and take it back. Just try emailing them. The only reason they wouldn’t take mine was because it came from Groupon Goods (different from a Groupon) I have since purchased the full body blazer and have had no breakouts.

  3. Yes Ladies!!!! You are not alone… Love the product.. but there is definitely something in it that causes one to break out in a rash.. I’ve worn neoprene and never had this problem. This happened with my first pair of pants back in 2013/2014. Even after washing… it does the same thing. It’s very strange. I’m so glad you posted this.

    • Hi Tommie- thank you for your comment, and for pointing out that in my post I left out a big part of their community- the male Zaggora users! I am so sorry that it also happened to you. I know it’s 2016, but I still have been relying on my old pre-2013 hot tops. I have a brand new one with tags that I got in 2014, but I’m afraid to wear it! Did you also try writing in to the company? Feel free to reference this blog post. They didn’t listen to me, or seem to believe me…

And, for the record Zaggora, still, to this day, none of your other products have made me break out in this rash.

  4. Aha… Now I understand what this horrific rash is!!! It has caused me to breakout in the same rash but on my thighs it turns in to more like lumpy hives! I woke in the night bleeding because I’d been scratching so much. It’s extremely irritating and now painful as I have scabs! I thought I had a skin problem but I now see it has been since I wore these Hot Pants! Such a shame as I really love the product. Does anyone know how to clear the rash? It has even caused the colour pigment in my skin to change.
